Fourth Board meeting Held in Yerevan, Armenia,
November 2005
Just prior to ISSAs 7th Annual Conference, the
Web Publishing Board met to review 27 stories being
considered for the Reading Corner, and to discuss ways
to improve the usefulness of the Reading Corner for
Step by Step NGOs.
The Board approved five new stories by authors from
Albania, Haiti, Hungary, Mongolia, and Moldova. The
new stories will be posted on the Reading Corner shortly
for countries to translate. In addition, ten stories
were considered worthy of additional help from mentors
with the hope that the revised stories will be resubmitted
for a second review at the next Board meeting. These
ten stories come from eight countries: Albania, Armenia,
Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Georgia, Haiti, Mongolia and
Romania.
Illustrators are needed for the new stories.
Books with a strong cultural content will be of particular
interest in the selection of future stories.
The Board agreed to create a mechanism for SbS web
publishing coordinators to share their experiences and
to allow a free exchange of ideas. A list serve will
be created for this purpose. The Board also authorized
the creation of a matrix of themes that should simplify
the identification of appropriate books for use in the
different SbS core initiatives.
